
The Rotary Club of Cochin South, in association with the Rotaract Club, organized an inter-collegiate Nature Conservation Quiz at St. Teresa’s College, hosted by the Department of Zoology. The event aimed to create awareness and encourage young minds to engage actively with issues related to wildlife, biodiversity, and environmental conservation. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Helvin, Head of the Department of Zoology, St. Teresa’s College.
Mr. Manu Sathyan, IFS, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Social Forestry Division, distributed the prizes to the winners and addressed the gathering. Drawing from his field experience, he shared valuable insights on forest conservation, biodiversity protection, and the critical role of youth in safeguarding natural ecosystems. Around eight colleges from across the district participated in the quiz, making the competition vibrant and intellectually stimulating.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members alike. Rtn. George Panamkuzha, Secretary of the Rotary Club of Cochin South, attended the programme as the Chief Guest and encouraged the students to remain committed to environmental stewardship and community service, in line with Rotary’s ideals. The Nature Conservation Quiz was a meaningful and impactful initiative, reinforcing Rotary Club of Cochin South’s commitment to youth engagement, education, and environmental sustainability.
