Service Activities Harmony Aptitude tests, Career Counselling, Skill development Leadership Workshops & Camps Centre of Excellence Session at RCC Thiruvankulam On November 8, the Rotary Club of Cochin South conducted a Centre of Excellence session at RCC Thiruvankulam, led by our Club Treasurer Rtn. Neeraj Chanduvarath. The session focused on the theme “The Art of Saying No” and was designed especially for students. Rtn. Neeraj spoke about the importance of setting healthy boundaries, making responsible choices, and understanding that a thoughtful “no” can often protect one’s time, values, and future.
He explained how peer pressure, social media distractions, and unhealthy habits can derail students, and how learning to say no—respectfully and confidently—helps them stay focused on academics, personal growth, and long-term goals. The talk included practical examples, simple role-plays, and interactive questions, encouraging students to reflect on real-life situations where they struggle to refuse friends, requests, or temptations. He stressed that saying no is not about being rude, but about being clear, honest, and self-respecting.
The session was well received by the students and teachers at RCC Thiruvankulam, who appreciated the relevance of the topic and the approachable manner in which it was delivered. The programme reinforced Rotary’s commitment to youth development by equipping students with life skills that go beyond textbooks.
